Doctor D. Scott Worth
Pastor
Scott became Good Shepherd’s pastor in June of 2010 after serving two other churches in Leesburg and West Palm Beach for 15 years. He is married to Laura with whom he shares the joy of parenting Kaylie, Kyle and Hayden.
Scott grew up in Clearwater, Florida, where he was raised in a Christian home.
Building on the seeds of faith planted by his parents and church home, Scott came to respond to God’s pull within him at a young age. In his teen years, youth group was formative for Scott as were church summer camp experiences. Upon graduating college with a business degree, Scott began work at Honeywell while also volunteering with Youth for Christ in Largo, Florida. Over the next two years, God drew Scott’s heart to work more with teens and Scott became a Youth director in Clearwater, Florida. Two years later Scott, Laura, and newborn Kaylie entered Seminary at Columbia Theological Seminary in Decatur, Georgia where Scott attained a Master of Divinity degree. Scott served Memorial Presbyterian in West Palm Beach and then Lake Square Presbyterian in Leesburg. Scott came to Good Shepherd, here in Melbourne, amid work on his Doctor of Ministry and received his degree May 12, 2012.
Scott became an avid Tampa Bay Buccaneer football fan early in his life. After becoming a pastor, he headed a word-of-mouth campaign to alter the start times of most home Buccaneer games from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm. You see, as a pastor, it would be very difficult for Scott to arrive at the stadium at 1:00 pm. The slogan of the effort was “Preachers on Bleachers” – he is still waiting for it to catch on!
Whether Pastor Scott is speaking from the pulpit or is enjoying the opportunity to work along side church members on a mission trip, he is always engaged in the business of bringing folks to the Lord. He is 100% sincere in his interactions with others. He is a man of integrity, faith, love, and genuine empathy. We are blessed to have him as our spiritual leader.
